To empower every believer to support the unfortunate, feed the hungry, clothe the needy, fight illiteracy, and care for the widows.

To operate exclusively for spiritual, charitable, literary, and educational purposes to provide local opportunities and spiritual growth in every community in the Caribbean, especially in Haiti.

OUR VALUES

Our values at Bread of the World Commission (BWC) are based on biblical principles and the teachings of Jesus Christ.  We look to these values as instructions that guide our actions each day.  They keep our focus towards our neighbors, especially the ‘least of these’ according to Matthew 25. 

 INTEGRITY We serve with ethical principles, honesty and moral character for the advancement of God’s Kingdom

COMPASSION We strive to love our neighbors as ourselves.

Don Maxon Fougere (president)

Don Maxon Fougere was born in Baradères, Haiti.  In 1996, he moved to the United States to pursue his higher education. Two years later, he went back to his country to marry his sweetheart, Merline Jean. Today, the two have three beautiful children, Don Jr., Majhalene, and Ruth.

Don came to faith in Christ Jesus at the age of 9.  At the time of his confession of faith, he was the only Christian in his family.  Through God’s providence, over the years, Don led several members of his family to Christ.  While living in Haiti, Don contributed to the advancement of the spreading of the Gospel of Jesus-Christ through mission work. He served as Sunday School Director, Secretary, Sunday School Teacher, and Youth Director in his church in Haiti. Before leaving Haiti, he was ordained as a Pastor.  

In Louisiana, Don attended the First Haitian Baptist Church.  There, he helped transform the church by writing its first bylaws. In his zeal to see the spread of the Gospel throughout the caribbean, especially in Haiti, Don founded Bread of the World Commision.  Don’s ultimate goal is to return to Haiti to spread the Gospel, so that Haiti can be won for Christ. He and his wife currently attend Meadowridge Church.

Don received a Bachelor in Christian Ministry at the New Orleans Baptist theological seminary and holds a Master’s Degree of Modern Languages Concentration in French Literature and an MBA from the University of Texas at Arlington.

James Fougere (vice president)

As the Vice-President of Bread of the World Commission, James serves as a strategic leader in developing and enforcing the organization’s policies and objectives to ensure it maintains its values and meets the established goals. 

 In his current role, James manages the day-to-day activities of the organization.  This includes, developing responsibilities for the staff, hiring employees, developing the staff as well as ensuring the organization accomplishes tasks to meet its overall mission.  James is also responsible for creating public awareness initiatives to ensure the organization is visible in the communities we serve.

James received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Dillard University in New Orleans and holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix with a concentration in Human Resources Management.  He is also a Certified Human Resources Professional from the Society of Human Resource Management.  

James is currently married to Toni Blackwell Fougere.  They have three children, Alaya, Jeremiah and Semaj.  James and Toni currently reside in Melissa, TX, a suburb in North Dallas.  They have been members of City Church Melissa for the last year and a half.  James serves on the worship team while Toni serves in the kids’ ministry.  Prior to joining City Church Melissa, James served on the worship team and as a deacon at Grace Life Baptist Church in Cypress, Texas for 3 years.

Jean Wilfrid Alex (FIELD MINISTRY MANAGER)

Jean Wilfrid Alexis was born in Leogane, Haiti. He moved to the United States in 1980 for a better life. After seven years, he returned to his country to marry his beautiful wife, Rosita S. Alexis. The two have three beautiful children, Jovia, Jolin, and Jonesse.

Before migrating to the U.S. Jean was ill. After migrating to the United States, Jean’s illness continued. During that time, he heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ; however, he shunned the Gospel.  As his spouse was getting ready to come to the U.S.,  he promised God that if God helped his wife make it to the U.S., he would serve Him; Jean’s illness subsided for a while.  However,  after his wife arrived, Jean forgot about his promise; his illness worsened. In May 1991, Mr. Alexis called a local pastor to pray for him.  That same day, he accepted Christ as his personal Lord and savior.

Since his salvation, Jean has contributed significantly to the advancement of the spreading of the Gospel of Jesus-Christ. He has worked as a crusader, served food at hospitals, and was a leader at a leadership formation.  Through the sharing and preaching of the Gospel, Jean has brought over 1300 souls to the kingdom of God.  

Jean currently attends the First Haitian Baptist Church where he has been a member since 1991.  There, he served as Director of Christian Education, Deacon, president of finance and Director of transportation. He also founded the First Haitian Baptist Church choir. Jean is an ordained Evangelist. In 2019, he was ordained as a pastor. 

Jean holds a certificate from Golden Gate Baptist Seminary. 

Marie-Rony Fougere (SECRETARY)

Marie-Rony Fougere was born in Baraderes, Haiti.  She attended Quisqueyen Jr. High and Lucien Hubbert High School before migrating to the United States. Marie-Rony migrated to the United States in 1993.  She has lived in Louisiana most of her life, where she attended schools.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree in French from the University of New Orleans.  She has also earned a Master’s Degree in Human Services Counseling from Liberty University.   

Marie currently works at HERC (Holistic Education Rehabilitation Center) in Louisiana as a counselor. She has chosen the counseling profession because of her love for people. Her goals are to always find the good in people and to help others reach their full potential.   Marie currently attends West Point Church in Louisiana where she has been a member since 2017. 

 Marie enjoys giving back to her community both in Texas and Louisiana. In Texas, she volunteered weekly at Meals on Wheels by bringing food to the elderly.  In Louisiana, she volunteered at Voyage House to help feed and shelter the homeless. In her spare time, Marie enjoys reading, listening to music, and cooking.

Estaniel Jean-Pierre (TREASURER)

Estaniel Jean-Pierre was born in Baraderes, Haiti.  He moved from Haiti in search of a better life for his family in April 2014.  He is married to Naphtali Vedanta Jean-Pierre.  The two have 3 beautiful children together, Stanensa, Stanich and Stania.  

Estaniel currently attends the First Haitian Baptist Church in New Orleans where he serves as a treasurer.  Prior to attending the First Haitian Baptist Church, Estaniel attended Eglise Assemblee Chretienne where he served as a Secretary.  Estaniel is passionate about helping the needy, fighting hunger around the world and making the world a better place.

Estaniel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Institut Universitaire Quisqueya-Amerique in Haiti.  He is currently attending Delgado Community College in New Orleans seeking to advance his skills in accounting.

Johanne Fabiola Fleurant (Advisor)

Johanne Fabiola Fleurant is a native of Haiti. She has been living in Fort Lauderdale since 2014. Johanne is married to Edvard Fleurant.  Although Johanne and her husband do not currently have any children, her passion remains for youth and early childhood development. 

Johanne has been walking with the Lord since 1988.  She currently attends Bethel Church of God and  has been a member there since 2014. She currently serves on the worship, kids and youth ministries in her church.  Johanne loves to sing and worship.  As a servant of Christ, she is always ready and willing to volunteer in the church and her community for the expansion of the Gospel.  

Johanne holds  a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of GOC in Haiti. She has expertises in Human Resources and Haitian Labor Laws. 

Hector Vertus (project manager)

Hector Vertus was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.  He is married to Wilda Jean.  The two have two children, Sarayhi-Hector and Jonathan-Hector.  They reside in Benbrook, Tx.

Hector accepted Christ into his life in 1997.  In Haiti, he attended  the Assembly of God of Tokyo and Santified Baptist Church of Butte Boyer in Port-au-Prince where he served as an Administrator in the Assembly of God church. Currently  Hector attends Wedgwood Baptist Church, where he has been a member since 2012.  

Hector holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information System from Academy of Pure Science and Applied in Port-au-Prince.
